John of Krondstadt (r)

John of Krondstadt (r)

Icon of John of Krondstadt.

Widely venerated as a saint even during his lifetime, Father John is known for his spiritual gifts of powerful prayer, healing, spiritual insight and great love for all people.

Having spent his entire life serving God and His people Father John fell ill and died on December 20, 1908. Almost immediately, people from near and far began to make pilgrimages to the monastery where he was buried and to pray to him to intercede for them as he had always done.

This is part of the series of traditional and Orthodox saints, which derives from a range of sources, including manuscripts, other icons and mosaics. Some icons include 24 carat gold highlights.

John of Krondstadt is painted in acrylic on a Loxley Gold box canvas and has two layers of varnish. It is signed on the reverse in pencil. All edges are painted and varnished. This is one of two icons of John of Krondstadt; this one has his name written in red.

This is one of a series of traditional saints; see my gallery for other images.

The image size is 20cm x 25cm (8" x 10").
