Sophia Magdalena Scholl (9 May 1921 – 22 February 1943) was a German student and anti-Nazi political activist, active within the White Rose non violent resistance group in Nazi Germany.

She was found distributing anti-war leaflets at the University of Munich with her brother, Hans and they were both executed by guillotine for high treason.

The modern saints series includes people from all over the world who have left us wonderful examples of faith and witness.

Sophie Scholl is painted in acrylic on a Loxley Gold box canvas and has two layers of varnish. It is signed on the reverse in pencil. All edges are painted and varnished.

This is one of a series of modern saints.

The image size is 20cm x 25cm (8" x 10").
