Pope John XXIII


Icon of Pope John XXIII, the 260th successor of St Peter, Pope from October 1958 to June 1963. He is best known for convening the Second Vatican Council and became known as Good Pope John.

The modern saints series includes people from all over the world who have left us wonderful examples of faith and witness. 

Pope John XXIII is painted in acrylic on a Loxley Gold box canvas and has two layers of varnish. It is signed on the reverse in pencil. All edges are painted and varnished.

This is one of a series of modern saints.
