Dr King was a Baptist minister and social activist who was of major importance in the American civil rights movement from the mid-1950s until his assassination in 1968. King sought equality and human rights through peaceful protest, most particularly for African Americans, the economically disadvantaged and all victims of injustice.

The modern saints series includes people from all over the world who have left us wonderful examples of faith and witness. 

Martin Luther King Jnr is painted in acrylic on a Loxley Gold box canvas and has two layers of varnish. It is signed on the reverse in pencil. All edges are painted and varnished.
