Bantu Steve Biko


Bantu Steve Biko (December 12 1946 - September 12 1977)was an anti-apartheid activist and founder of the Black Conscious Movement that empowered and mobilised the South Africa's black population to fight against minority rule. He died in police custody people as a martyr of the anti-apartheid movement but his writings continue to have widespread influence.

The modern saints series includes people from all over the world who have left us wonderful examples of faith and witness. 

Steve Biko is painted in acrylic on a Loxley Gold box canvas and has two layers of varnish. It is signed on the reverse in pencil. All edges are painted and varnished.

This is one of a series of modern saints.
