Albert Schweitzer, (Jan. 14, 1875, Kaysersberg, Upper Alsace, Germany (now France)—Sept. 4, 1965, Lambaréné, Gabon). An Alsatian-German theologian, philosopher, organist, and mission doctor in equatorial Africa, Schweitzer received the 1952 Nobel Prize for Peace for his efforts on behalf of the Brotherhood of Nations.

Albert Schweitzer is painted in acrylic on a Loxley Gold box canvas and has two layers of varnish. It is signed on the reverse in pencil. All edges are painted and varnished.
