Icon of Mary Ward, a Catholic nun whose activities led to the founding of the Congregation of Jesus and the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, better known as the Sisters of Loreto.
The series of British saints attests to over a thousand years of Christian witness in the British Isles. Subjects range from Saint David of Wales to Cuthbert, William Wilberforce to Evelyn Underhill.
Mary Ward is painted in acrylic on a Loxley Gold box canvas and has two layers of varnish. It is signed on the reverse in pencil. All edges are painted and varnished.
This is one of a series of saints of the British Isles; see my shop for other images.
The image size is 20cm x 25cm (8" x 10").
